Public consultation for the NEPM AAQ Review has closed and VELSN have provided a submission.14/8/2019 Last week, VELSN made a submission to the National Environmental Protection Council (NEPC) — a national body comprised of environment ministers from Commonwealth, state and territory governments — regarding proposed variations to the National Environmental Protection Measure (NEPM) on Ambient Air Quality. Writing a submission was an exciting opportunity for VELSN to connect with students and contribute to Victoria's environmental regulatory scheme. During July we held two working group sessions, open to all law students, to help us research and write the submission. Thanks to all VELSN members who collaborated on this project and special thanks to our Policy Officers — Ying Wong and Cassie O'Regan — for spearheading the final submission. The public consultation process has now closed and the next step is for the Victorian EPA to compile a report that canvasses the submissions it has received. We encourage you to read our submission below and leave a comment.
